Stan Dukeman, Founder and President
Stan is the proud founder of Dukeman Custom Woodworking. His passion for woodworking began in Tuscola, IL, where his industrial arts teacher, Jonathan Hart, first sparked his interest in the craft. While studying electrical engineering in college, Stan missed the hands-on creativity that woodworking provided. That was why he sought experience working with Amish cabinetmakers to deepen his woodworking skills.
Meet Our Team
Early Career and High-End Commercial Experience
In 1989, Stan moved to Jacksonville, FL, and joined a cabinetry firm, where he began building high-end commercial cabinetry and architectural elements. During this time, he worked on projects for major clients including Disney, Opryland, Dean Witter Reynolds, the Alabama State Capitol, Georgia Pacific, and a range of finance and insurance companies. That experience gave him the opportunity to refine his technical abilities while working to the high standards expected on complex and prominent projects.
Founding Dukeman Custom Woodworking
In 1998, Stan founded Dukeman Custom Woodworking with the goal of making woodworking his lifetime profession and becoming the best woodworker he could be. He began by collaborating with designers and builders to create custom entertainment centers.
Clients were so pleased with the quality of his work that they soon began requesting cabinetry for kitchens, baths, and libraries as well. As his reputation spread through the design and building community, and satisfied homeowners continued to share their positive experiences with him with others, he grew his business to include cabinetry and other custom wood elements for entire homes.
The Reputation of His Business Today
Stan believes that beautiful cabinetry is achieved with attention to detail and a willingness to truly listen to your valued customers. That is why Stan treats each project as if it were being created for his own home or office and with genuine dedication to exemplary customer service from conception through design, construction, and installation. Today, Stan and his team of artisans are recognized as a premier resource for high-quality custom cabinetry and furnishings that builders, designers, homeowners, and executives in the region choose to work with.
Kenneth, Lead Builder
Kenneth joined Dukeman Custom Woodworking in July 2005, just a few months after he moved from New York City, NY, to Jacksonville, FL. He is the longest-serving employee in the company besides Stan. Kenneth brings a deep appreciation for the craft and a strong sense of pride to his role as Lead Builder.
He believes that when you enjoy what you do, work becomes more than a job; it becomes an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Kenneth especially enjoys building from scratch and takes pride in helping create some of the highest-quality cabinetry and furnishing products of their kind in Northeast Florida and beyond.
His Background and Experience
Originally from Trinidad, Kenneth began working in the industry in 1978 when he was just 11 years old. He later relocated to the United States. That early start gave him decades of experience and a practical understanding of the work that continues to shape the quality of what he builds today.
Kirk, Builder, Installer, and Finisher
Kirk has been part of Dukeman Custom Woodworking since 2020 and brings nine years of cabinetry industry experience to the team. Over the years, he has worked in many positions, including Assistant Manager, Designer, Builder, Helper, Hardware Finisher, Deliverer, and Installer. That wide-ranging experience has helped him develop a well-rounded perspective and the ability to contribute wherever needed.
Role in Quality Control
As a multifaceted employee, Kirk plays an important role in Dukeman Custom Woodworking's quality control process. His strong attention to detail and years of customer service experience allow him to work across multiple areas while helping Stan's crew maintain a high standard of craftsmanship. His efforts support the creation of top-quality products with a high-end finish, which is a defining part of the company's work.
Woodworking Skills
Throughout his woodworking career, Kirk has built outstanding European-style face frame cabinets and butcher block countertops. He also performs excellent on-site finishing touch-up work and contributes skilled craftsmanship to cabinet refacing projects.
Philip, Designer
After living in Gainesville for 33 years, Philip moved to Jacksonville in 2007. He later joined Dukeman Custom Woodworking in 2012 exclusively as its Lead Designer after starting in the building stage of custom woodworking. That experience gives him a practical understanding of how strong design translates into a finished product.
Design Experience
Before joining Dukeman Custom Woodworking, Philip worked with top woodworkers and developed a strong background in high-end woodworking. He eventually found a home at Dukeman Custom Woodworking, where he designs some of the exquisite woodworks that the company achieves throughout the entire "home-scaping" process.
Involved from Start to Finish
Philip is involved in every stage of production, from the initial measuring process to the final installation. What he enjoys most about the job is seeing his designs brought to life with the exceptional care and attention to detail that Stan and the crew consistently deliver. He loves the fact that Dukeman Custom Woodworking's products are made using only the finest materials and are skillfully built, installed, and finished in ways that make them worth the anticipation clients feel throughout the process.
An Artist as Well as a Designer
Dukeman Custom Woodworking gained not only a highly capable designer in Philip, but also a creative artist. He majored in Fine Arts and Architecture at the University of Miami. Philip brings remarkable talents in drawing, illustrating, and painting. Combined with his 14 years of high-end woodworking experience, those artistic strengths give him a unique ability to create work that is both functional and visually refined. He continues to explore those interests through personal projects in his spare time.
Kimberly, Designer
In 2018, Kimberly earned her A.S. degree in Interior Design. She then began working with the Dukeman Custom Woodworking team as a Custom Designer in January 2019.
Previous Work Experience
Before joining Dukeman Custom Woodworking, Kimberly worked for a local credit union, where she eventually became its Accounting Manager before taking the next step in her career.
Early Inspiration and Design Training
Kimberly's interest in design started early. She remembers visiting model homes with her mother as a child and trying to understand how furniture worked within smaller spaces. Later, in high school, she was introduced to upholstery and interior design, which helped shape her career direction. In 2018, her dream of working in the field became a reality when she interned for a kitchen and bath designer while earning her Interior Design degree from FSCJ.
Joining Dukeman Custom Woodworking
After her internship, Kimberly was hired as a Designer for Dukeman Custom Woodworking by Stan himself. Now, she delves into the wonderful design ideas of customers, designers, and builders that Stan and his crew achieved, which cemented the company's reputation as a leader in custom woodworking.
Her Passion for Creating
Born in Miami, Kimberly has lived in Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, and Virginia before settling in Middleburg in 1989. She loves creating custom cabinetry and furniture, helping clients realize their vision for unique spaces by working on every little detail and ensuring everything fits perfectly. Kimberly is grateful and honored that her true passion, the act of creating, is part of her work every day.
